Miami Fencing Club Sabre Star Earns Eagle Scout Honor

Our sabre star, Sean Vilar, recently earned his Eagle Scout Honor in a ceremony at a local hotel in December, 2009. For his Eagle Scout project, Sean sponsored a fencing tournament in cooperation with the Miami Fencing Club that directly benefited the Miami-Dade County Park and Recreation disabled fencing program. This program provides instruction in the sport of fencing to special needs athletes throughout the county.
The proceeds of the Miami Fencing Club's Miami Madness tournament in April 2009 were donated to the disabled fencing program taught by our fencing master, Max Tack-Fang, and general manager Mike Elder. This program serves athletes with special needs teaching fencing as a physical activity and as a competitive sport for the Paralympic Games.
